Welcome to Tick Prevention Week - Defence against tick-borne disease
This is an annual campaign to raise awareness regarding the dangers of tick bites, and how to reduce the chance of infection. The campaign week is held in early spring, when the weather gets warmer, people spend more time outdoors, and ticks become more active.

What's New for Tick Prevention Week 2009?
This year our focus is on children, who not only love to play in the great outdoors, they love to play with it! There is nothing like kicking through the leaf litter, playing hide-and-seek in the bushes, swinging on a woodland rope swing, or rolling down a grassy hill. Making sure children know about ticks, and to come and tell an adult if they get bitten, is crucial to helping to keep them as safe as possible.
Read our featured children's stories
Danielle (13), Eloise (3), Emily (5) and Helena (8) all got bitten by ticks while enjoying the great outdoors. Our featured stories tell these children's different tales and highlight where greater awareness is needed.
Children's Book launch - Jack, Scruffy and the ticks
Tick Prevention Week sees the launch of our new book, Jack, Scruffy and the ticks. The book is designed to teach children about ticks, how to avoid them and what to do if they are bitten. It also teaches them about protecting our pets too.
